HOW TO READ A MATH BOOK???




Summary:
Read a math book is different from reading others book. You need a long time to understand it after you read a math book.

Two Kinds of Reading
The first is able to follow the way of the solution and the second lies on why the solution works.

What not to Do

Don’t memorize too much. When you read a math book shouldn’t be too much to memorize. It will make you feel frustrated. You’ve to do practice to understand it.
Don’t start with the homework problems. Before you doing the homework, you must reading and understanding section of the textbook.
Don’t be afraid to go back. If you find a problem in today’s lesson, you must go back and relearn that earlier material.

What to Do

First skim for an overview. The first time you read a math book, perhaps you just know some of the points of the argument. You need to create a framework and fill it with details.
Then reread with concentration. If you find a problem in understanding a math book, you should reread with concentration and it will help focus your mind.
Go through each step of each example. You can’t read a math book as you read comics because you learn math by doing, not by reading.
Fill in any gaps. If there is a concept you don’t understand, you’ve relearn before you learn new material.
Think about what you’ve read. When you read a math book, think about a shorter method to solve specific cases.
Make it your own. If you can explain to someone else without stumbling, you probably understand it.
Do the homework problems. If you find any problems in doing homework, you’ve to look back the example and understand it. Then, see how to apply it.
